DASS · ANALYSIS CLINIC
Analysis Troubleshooting Worksheet
Define the problem before changing the model. Keep a record of what each check shows and what remains unresolved.
Complete this for your own planning. Do not include participant identifiers, confidential records, or sensitive details in an initial inquiry. This worksheet does not diagnose your study or replace a full analysis plan.
1. Describe the problem
Research question, outcome, intended comparison, and claim
Exact warning or reviewer concern; where it occurs
Data structure: observations, repeated measures, clusters, and missingness
Model, variable coding, software / package versions, and relevant clinic case
Deadline, consequences, and what would count as a resolved question
DASS · CHECKS AND DECISIONS
2. Document the investigation
Checks attempted: what changed, what stayed fixed, and result of each check
Data / coding issues ruled out; unresolved issues and evidence needed
Candidate explanations and assumptions behind each one
Defensible options: what each changes about the question or interpretation
Sensitivity checks and how conclusions differ across justified options
Next action, responsible person, review date, and remaining limitations
Save the original inputs and code before revisions. Keep versions and record deviations from your plan. Read the Analysis Clinic cases or ask about your analysis. Prepared October 10, 2026.
