For psychology researchers

Your model needs to satisfy a psych methodologist, not just run without errors.
One of our co-founders is one.

Statistical and methodological support for psychology research — multilevel modeling, SEM, psychometrics, and intervention-study design — from a team that includes a practicing psychology researcher, not just a statistician who occasionally sees psych data.

Co-founded by a psychologist

Dr. Kerrie Wilkins-Yel is an Associate Professor in counseling psychology (mental health and counseling) at UMass Boston, an NSF CAREER Fellow, and PI on ~$5M in grants studying STEM persistence and equity — cited over 2,000 times. When you work with DASS on a psychology study, you're not explaining your field to an outside statistician; you're working with someone who publishes in it.

I recruited Nedim for his analytical skills and research abilities. He brought very strong quantitative research skills and the interpersonal ability to work effectively with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds. He excelled at ferreting out and interpreting information from multiple sources. My highest recommendation.

We had an unrealistically tight timeline, and Dr. Yel jumped in without hesitation — not only met the deadline, but delivered a little earlier than we anticipated. He took the time to understand the situation behind the data and the implications of every insight. We know who to go to for future work like this.

Common questions

Can you check whether my measure is valid?

Yes. That means reliability, factor structure and, if you compare groups, measurement invariance, matched to how you plan to use the scores. Our guide to validating a questionnaire explains the steps and includes a free measurement-review checklist.

Do I need a multilevel model or is ANOVA enough?

It depends on how your observations are related. Repeated-measures ANOVA can suit a simple, complete design with common measurement occasions; a mixed model is more flexible when visits are missed, timing varies or observations are clustered, such as students within classrooms. See our guide to mixed models vs. repeated-measures ANOVA.

Can you integrate qualitative and quantitative data?

Yes. Mixed-methods integration is a listed deliverable, and Dr. Wilkins-Yel is a mixed-methods researcher, so the qualitative side is handled by someone who publishes in the field.

My committee or reviewer is asking about power. Where do I start?

With the comparison you plan to make and the smallest difference that would matter. Our free power calculators cover t tests, ANOVA, correlation, chi-square and multilevel designs, and a power-analysis memo is a typical deliverable.

How much does it cost, and how long does it take?

We don't publish a price list because cost depends on scope. The free 30-minute consult ends with a scoped proposal that includes methods, a timeline and a fixed quote, whether or not you hire us. If you have a deadline, such as a resubmission date, tell us on the first call so the timeline is built around it. We reply to inquiries within one business day.
